BG Canis Minoris: Ten Days of
the Pup

BG CMi figure

An intensive campaign on BG CMi was conducted in early February 1998. The major perpetrators were Dave Harvey and John Stull. As usual, the star showed prominent 913 s pulses arising from white dwarf rotation, and a dippy 0.1348 d signal arising from the binary orbit. The rotation signal showed very weak orbital sidebands too, at 991 s, 1083 s, and 847 s. The upper frame shows the mean orbital light curve, and the lower frame shows the mean 913 s pulse shape. The dip in the orbital light curve is very eclipse-like, but as for what is eclipsing what, why that remains unknown.
