    [Fwd: Re: TT Ari spectrum]

Here's the spectrum that Ondrej Pecha took last night at the 2.4 m,
which plainly shows the TiO absorptions characteristic of the M dwarf
secondary. At last beheld by human eyes. I have a report from Marco
Silva that the star entered an active state at 4:00 UT, so probably the
experiment to compare the front and back sides of the heated secondary
will have failed. But it's wonderful to see the M dwarf features
    staring back at us!

We might try this experiment one more time on Nov 25 UT (Tues night in
the USA), which will conclude this long campaign of
photometry-spectroscopy-UV-X-ray. That too will depend on notification
of "low state"; so those notices late in the European night, and early
in the USA night, will be crucial. Thanks!

    Hello,

    here's one of today's spectrum - it's flux calibrated. I will get
another one in about 40 minutes to see if there are any changes.

    Best regards,

    Ondrej
